Run with the P.A.C.K.

The Bath House Cultural Center, in collaboration with the Creative Arts Center of Dallas, is hosting Run With the PACK, a free Public Art Camp for Kids, from June 28 to July 9, 2021.

Run With the PACK is a free immersive hands-on public mural camp for underserved teens, 12-16 years old. The focus of the camp is on the creation of a painted mural in the lake-level of the Bath House Cultural Center.  In this camp, students learn about the nuances of creating a large-scale public art installation, from conception to application.

Run With the PACK teaches kids all aspects of a public art piece, including understanding the history of the neighborhood and building where the painting will be created, identifying the purpose of the art piece, designing the composition, and drawing it in a large scale.  Students also learn about the importance of respecting public and private property.  Additionally, the camp includes a tour of some of the murals in Deep Ellum that will serve as inspiration for the students.

This summer camp is designed to bring opportunities to local underserved students and to provide them with access to the arts.

ELIGIBILITY: Kids ages 12-16.

PRICE: Free.  Lunch provided to students.

CAMP DATES/TIME: June 28-July 1 (Monday-Thursday) and July 6-9 (Tuesday-Friday), 2021 from 9 AM to 1 PM.

Circo Metropolis Caravan

The Bath House Cultural Center, in collaboration with Laughter League, is hosting Circo Metropolis Caravan, a free camp for Dallas kids, July 12-23, 2021.

Laughter League’s circus camp teaches kids basic circus skills.  The camp culminates in an informal performance featuring the campers and the camp instructors. Campers learn juggling, balancing, slack wire, aerial silk and physical comedy. Learning circus skills is a proven way to improve self-esteem, foster team building and even learn science.  Children find moments of discovery and excitement when they master a skill.

There will be two separate one-week camps. Students have the option of participating in the first or second camp, or both

The goal of the camp is to empower kids by teaching them circus skills and helping to improve their self-confidence.  The camp also educates families about the magic of live performance and the arts in general.
