
Word Space Artist Talk: Rosemary Meza-DesPlas & Sara Cardona

Wordspace presents part two of our four part Lit Hop 2023 Series with an Art Talk by two esteemed artists whose work are informed by research and reading, Rosemary Meza-DesPlas and Sara Cardona.
Rosemary Meza-DesPlas is an artist, writer, poet and performer who focuses on female empowerment and Latinix identity. Her work is bold and humorous and incredibly well crafted. She is a 2022 recipient of the Ford Mellon Foundation Latinix Artist Fellowship and her work has been exhibited throughout the US and Europe.
Sara Cardona is a Dallas based artist who uses the analog process of cut and paste to create collages in the tradition of early twentieth century assemblage. Her collages are intricate and elegant and often become large scale sculptures in paper or metal. She has exhibited throughout Texas and has garnered much acclaim. In 2020 she received the Nasher Artist Grant through the Nasher Sculpture Center.
The host for the evening is Sandy Bates Emmons. Sandy is a writer and political activist and a culinary genius.
