This class will focus on the nature of watercolor, its’ possibilities, and the happy accidents that make beautiful watercolors seem effortless. Drawing and painting can be a form of meditation enabling you to lose yourself in the creative process. Watercolor is thought to be a very difficult medium and, indeed it can be – unless we take a more relaxed approach and yield some of the control to the tools. In this class, we will discuss the different options of watercolor paper and paint. Students will discuss the work of Arthur Dove, Sonia Delaunay, John Marin, and John Singer Sargent among others, and how the approach to watercolor differs from other mediums. Painting will be done both in the studio and outdoors. All levels are welcome.
