The Bath House Cultural Center is seeking applications for its 2024 Muralism Program, designed to nurture local visual artists in both traditional and modern mural painting techniques. This program not only benefits participating artists but also engages the community, promotes educational development, and enhances the Bath House Cultural Center.
2024 Project
A group of 3 to 4 students will create a 15’x 6’ mural commemorating the history of White Rock Lake as a popular Dallas destination for visitors and swimmers. The instructor has prepared preliminary sketches, and the final painting will be completed under his guidance with student participation.
Instructor
Dallas visual artist Genaro Hernandez, with extensive experience in both solo and group mural projects, will lead the program. Mr. Hernandez has collaborated on murals for cultural centers, hospitals, schools, and other venues in the DFW area.
Program Cost
The Bath House Muralism Program is free of charge.
Class Schedule
Classes will be held on 10-12 consecutive Saturdays from 12 to 4 PM, from July 20 to October 5, 2024. Due to the collaborative nature of the program, full attendance is required; however, exceptions will be made for students experiencing unforeseen circumstances or having previous commitments.
Eligibility
Artists aged 18 or older with a background or interest in visual arts are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to those with a reasonable level of art experience.
Art Materials All necessary art supplies will be provided by the instructor. Students may also bring their own tools if they wish.
Class Location
Classes will be held at the Lake Level inside the Bath House Cultural Center (521 E. Lawther Dr, Dallas, TX 75218, near White Rock Lake). This location provides an outdoor-like experience with limited air conditioning, so students should dress accordingly.

A selection committee will choose three to four participants for the program. Decisions are final. Applications not selected this year may be reconsidered for future programs.
