The Bath House Cultural Center and curator Jose Vargas invite artists to submit their artwork for consideration in the 31st annual El Corazón exhibition in 2026. and we are seeking the participation of artists currently living in Texas who work across various media.
ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
El Corazón is an exhibition that celebrates the profound and universal symbolism of the human heart—a subject that has long captivated artists as a representation of deep emotions, love, and passion. Over the years, El Corazón has become one of the Bath House Cultural Center’s longest-standing and most cherished gallery traditions. Even after many years, the exhibition continues to inspire artists to create highly original, time-relevant, and deeply personal interpretations of this timeless theme.
We invite you to explore the theme of the heart through your own unique perspective and artistic voice. By participating, you’ll be contributing to a distinguished tradition that honors both the expressive power of the heart and the remarkable diversity of artistic talent in our community. This exhibition will feature an engaging variety of styles, media, and techniques, reflecting the many ways in which artists continue to find new meaning in this enduring symbol.
PREFERRED WORKS OF ART
The exhibition explores how artists use the image of the human heart in their work. While artists are free to choose the concepts, media, and styles that best express their vision—and may include a variety of imagery—the curator encourages participants to make the symbol of the heart a central focus in their pieces. If you’re curious about the kinds of artworks featured in previous El Corazón exhibitions, you can find examples online.
ELIGIBILITY
Although we have displayed El Corazón works by local, regional, national and international artists before, we will only review art by artists who live currently in Texas for our 2026 show.
Art in all media will be considered. All two-dimensional art must be properly wired and suitable for hanging. Three-dimensional art must be fully stable to stand on its own or be attached to a stable base that can sit securely on top of our pedestals.
There are no specific size restrictions for the artwork, as long as it can fit through the gallery doors. However, please note that artists are responsible for transporting their own works to and from the gallery, as well as for promptly removing them once the exhibition closes.
SUBMITTING ENTRIES
An entry fee is not required. The curator will review photographs of completed artwork only and will select about 60 pieces for the exhibition. Unfinished artwork will not be reviewed.

All the artwork submitted and exhibited at the Bath House Cultural Center must be completely the applicant’s original idea and creation.
