Curated by Susan Lecky
Dallas curator, Susan Lecky, and the Bath House Cultural Center are seeking art entries for the 2023 Ageless Passion juried exhibition that will be presented from December 2, 2023, to January 27, 2024.
ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible to participate in the Ageless Passion Exhibition, artists must be 65 years of age or older and they must live in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. If your city is in any of the following Texas counties, you live in the DFW Metroplex: Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Hood, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Rockwall, Somervell, Tarrant and Wise.
Art that has been exhibited in previous exhibitions at the Bath House will not be accepted. Entries that do not meet submission requirements will not be considered and will be disqualified
ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
The Ageless Passion exhibition returns for its second installment, shining a vibrant spotlight on the often-overlooked DFW artists who have gracefully crossed the age of 65. While the art world frequently thrives on promoting the emergence of fresh, youthful talent, the seasoned artists in our communities often go unnoticed, their profound contributions to culture and the arts largely overshadowed by insufficient exposure. This exhibition seeks to rectify this oversight by showcasing the remarkable artistic achievements and enduring careers of these more mature artists, paying tribute to their decades of dedication and cultural impact.
The exhibition does not have a central theme; instead, artists are welcome to submit recent artwork from any body of work that they are interested in sharing with the public.
Susan Lecky is a visual artist and independent exhibition curator who lives in Dallas. Susan has curated several art exhibitions for the art facilities of the City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture with much success.
MEDIA
Art in all media will be considered. All two-dimensional art must be properly wired and suitable for hanging. Three-dimensional art must be fully stable to stand on its own or be attached to a stable base that can sit securely on top of our pedestals. Artists whose work requires the use of electronic equipment (video players, projectors, audio devices, computers, etc.) must provide their own equipment.
There are no restrictions on the size of the artwork but bear in mind that artists are responsible for the transportation of their works and their prompt removal after the show closes.
SUBMITTING ENTRIES
An entry fee is not required. The curator will review photographs of completed artwork only and will select 40-50 pieces for the exhibition. Unfinished artwork will not be reviewed.
Entries must be submitted online at https://form.jotform.com/232705473216049
Artists may submit a maximum of three works of art for the curator’s consideration. The Bath House Cultural Center will not accept files submitted on CDs, removable memory sticks, or by e-mail.
Only one image can be attached to a single application on our submission portal. Artists must fill out one separate application for each submitted entry.
NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE
Applicants are solely responsible for reviewing the results of the selection process. We will not send notifications to the artists by email.
Please visit the Bath House Cultural Center’s Notification Page at https://bathhouse.dallasculture.org/notifications on Saturday, November 11, 2023 (7 PM), to see if your artwork was approved.
PHOTOGRAPHING YOUR ARTWORK
Submit high resolution images. Unless your cell phone has a camera that takes high resolution images, we recommend that you use a regular camera to photograph your artwork. You can also refer to the “Tips for Photographing Your Artwork” HERE for more information.
GALLERY AGREEMENT
The exhibition curator will make a final decision for the selection of entries for the show. The decision of the curator is final and indisputable.
Permission to photograph and reproduce accepted entries for promotional and educational purposes is considered granted unless otherwise indicated by the artist.
Submission of entries constitutes agreement to the conditions set forth above and in the Gallery Policy for Exhibitions. Download the policy using the link below:
Printed copies of the policy may also be obtained from the Bath House upon request.
SALES
Cultural Center employees are not allowed to accept payments from prospective art buyers, but they can collect contact information from them. Transactions for the purchase of artwork shall be directly between the purchaser and the artist or his/her official agent. The Friends of the Bath House Cultural Center, a not-for-profit organization that supports the center’s programs, would gladly accept a 15% donation on all art sold during the exhibition.
DELIVERY, LIABILITY, AND INSURANCE
Any accepted artwork that is delivered after the scheduled date of delivery will not be included in the exhibition. All artworks should be either shipped, at the artist’s expense, to and from the Bath House or delivered and picked up in person. The Bath House Cultural Center will not be responsible for damage, loss, or deterioration of any work while in transit. All reasonable care will be given to each work of art when received.
At its discretion, the City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture will provide insurance on most works of art. In some cases, the City of Dallas may refuse to insure certain pieces of art. In such cases, the artist will be informed and, if the artist still chooses to include her/his artwork in the show, despite of the lack of insurance coverage, the artist will be asked to sign a waiver releasing the gallery from any liability. The Bath House will not be responsible for art that is damaged while in the custody of the center because of defective hanging or installation mechanisms provided/installed by the artists. As an added precaution, artists have the option to purchase coverage separately from their own insurance providers.
